MISSISSAUGA TRANSIT SYSTEM MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO

Pathfinder® Lubricants, in co-operation with Mississauga Transit, conducted tests on three Mississauga Transit buses between December 2003 and April 2004. The buses were powered by Detroit Diesel, 50 Series engines.

BEFORE

The Transit buses were operated without the use of Pathfinder® Oil Fortifier and Fuel Treatment for the duration of one oil change (9000 Km).  

AFTER

The Transit buses were operated with the use of Pathfinder®´s Oil Fortifier and Fuel Treatment for two oil changes. Note: Emissions and fuel economy readings were recorded before and after. Oil analysis was also conducted before and after by Agat Laboratories.  

TEST RESULT ARE AS FOLLOWS

METAL WEAR

(AVERAGE FOR THE THREE BUSES) BEFORE AFTER 100.9 PPM 52.9 PPM

This represents a 2 to 1 drop in engine wear or doubling the life of these engines.

AVERAGE SOOT READING PER BUS: BEFORE AFTER

289 70 Soot contamination in a motor should not be over 100. High soot readings result in premature engine wear and will shorten engine life. Oil viscosity is destroyed by high soot count. The soot readings were reported as critical (without Pathfinder®) on all three buses.

12.4% IMPROVEMENT IN T.B.N.

This test shows a substantial improvement in the quality of oil at drain time. The T.B.N. on two buses was reported to be too low at the first oil change (without Pathfinder®). This was rectified with the use of Pathfinder® products.

A 5.04% improvement in fuel economy was reported when using Pathfinder® Lubricants.   A reduction in emissions (opacity meter) of 24% was recorded when Pathfinder® products were used. This reading exceeds the 20% reduction goal of the Kyoto Accord.
